Suunto Essential Ceramics product family uses the most premium materials such as stainless steel, sapphire crystal and nearly diamond-hard ceramics.
The aim of the project was to introduce high end ceramic materials to the Suunto watches. The optimal design of the products was found through numerous rounds of uncompromising material testing, ideating and concepting.

The Lusia picnic set was designed for the Criminal Sanctions Agency (Rikosseuraamuslaitos) to be manufactured in the Finnish prison workshops.
The grill was presented in the Global Grad Show at Dubai Design Week 2016.

The Winner of the 24h Live Design competition 2014!
Två is a combined bicycle lamp and lock that solves the problems of leaving the lamp at home and forgetting to lock the bike.
24h Live Design competition was held at Plastteknik Nordic expo in Malmö, Sweden. Teams of 2 students got a design task which they solved in real time on the exhibition floor in 24 hours. Competition was organised by Plastteknik Nordic and Zenit Design.

Humidome product was designed for the Helsinki based sports equipment start-up Humidome Oy. Product increases lifetime of the feather shuttlecocks by optimising humidity inside the tube.
Industrial design and mechanical engineering was completed through several prototyping faces into the final injection molded product in 2017.
Strategic design project for Iisalmi based industrial company Normet. Normet provides heavy duty mining equipment and services world wide as one of the biggest players in the industry.
In the project we made a research on the company and its business and created a directional design strategy with concrete examples in order to demonstrate what design could bring to the traditional machine company if introduced properly at all levels.

Suunto Bike Mount
Suunto Bike Mount is an adapter that allows user to easily attach her/his sports watch into the handlebar. Unlike it's many competitor products, Suunto Bike Mount is lightweight, sleek and therefore it does not have to be taken off when the watch is not attached.

Strategic design project was done without any co-operation with Stockmann or any other company. Brief was to hack Stockmann's traditional brick and mortar business and create new ways to save the company that has played remarkable role in the history of Finland.
myStockmann concept is a new kind of service package where the customer can choose the services she/he wants to use. Subscription based payment is done automatically every month.

A glass for hot drinks. Wooden veneer cone stretches and can be taken off for washing up. Hand made prototypes were created.

365 is an experimental music player concept that was prototyped and tested with real people as a part of the interactive prototyping course in co-operation with Bang & Olufsen.
365 is a physical embodiment of users personal music collection. The interface consists mainly of a circular wooden plate with a subtle grid surface and real stones that each embody one song. User can listen to a stone by simply placing it in the middle of the interface and stop playing by removing it from the middle.
Every day user gets a new possibility to add a new stone into the collection. This is one of the main catches of the concept; through limiting the amount of choices we believe that the act of selecting and adding new songs to the collection becomes more meaningful and interesting.

Between the years 2004 and 2012 I worked as a mechanical engineer in Suunto Oy. During those years I had possibility to work in various product and concepting projects. With the experts from the fields of electronics, design and manufacturing we created multiple novel product platforms and product families for the most demanding conditions and users.
Creating a product from the scratch to the mass production requires a lot of diverse understanding of technology, logistics, business and not to mention the users. As a mechanical engineer my responsibility was to crystallise designers', electronics engineers' and business peoples' visions. I developed complete products that consisted of plenty of miniature sized parts and mechanisms with various materials such as metals, plastics, rubber, glass and even textiles and leather.
As a Chief engineer my role in the projects was to manage the whole mechanical development and consider also bigger picture ensuring the best possible quality and schedule etc. Work also included some subcontracting, testing, sourcing and a lot of presence at factory floor both in Finland and China.
